Monthly Meetings

Programme for 2023 which includes our 10th Birthday Celebrations in October.  Meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of the month.  However this may change but up to date details of meetings will be posted below.  We look forward to welcoming you.
Wednesday February 15th 2023, 7.30pm, Neatishead School
In the year of the Coronation of King Charles III, our first presentation of the year is entitled “Textiles for a Monarch”  and will be given by a former National Trust Conservator.  All welcome.

‘Pilgrimage to The Holy Land’ presentation by Pauline Simpson following her visit to The Holy Land in 2021.  This evening is being held in aid of St Peter’s Church, Neatishead.

‘Churches in Broadland’ presentation by Ian Hinton, Chair of Norfolk Historic Buildings Group.  A fascinating look at the architecture and history of the churches in Broadland.

‘Waterside Heritage in Broadland’ presentation by Alison Yardy, Norfolk Historic Environment Service.

‘WISEArchive’ Oral History Group – Life and Times on the Broads
The evening will include a short film about the work of the WISE Archive and an opportunity to hear some of our oral recordings about life in the villages.

‘Remembrance – What we remember?  How do we remember?  Why do we remember?’
A special talk for Remembrance Day focussing on local WW1 research.

NIBCHG ‘Friends‘ supports our ongoing research to preserve the heritage of the villages and you will receive regular email updates.  Entry to all monthly meetings is free for ‘ NIBCHG Friends‘; entry to monthly meetings with presentations is £3 for visitors.  Meetings are not usually held in August or December.

DISPLAYS

Regular displays on a different aspect of the villages’ history can be seen  at the Neatishead Community Market and Cafe, on the 2nd Saturday of each month (except January), 9am – 12noon at the New Victory Hall, Neatishead, NR12 8AD and members of the committee will be on hand with more information about the Group and its research.
