Entry to all monthly meetings is free for ‘ NIBCHG Friends‘; entry to monthly meetings with presentations is £3 for visitors. No meeting to be held in August or December.
Next Meeting: ‘The 80th Commemorations of Dunkirk and Le Paradis’
The moving story of this tragic episode will be told at our meeting on Wednesday 18th March 2020, 7.30pm at Neatishead School, by members of the Le Paradis Memorial Campaign, one of whom is Dennis O’Callaghan whose father was one of the two men who survived the massacre. We have particular interest in the story as this event led to the death of two brothers from Irstead who served in “C” Company Norfolk Regiment: George Yaxley at Le Paradis and Horace Yaxley at Dunkirk. We hope you will be able to join us.
A campaign has been launched to provide a lasting memorial in Norfolk to the soldiers massacred at Le Paradis. A special website has been set up for information on this and from where donations can be made.
Regular displays on a different aspect of the villages’ history to link with the meeting on the following Wednesday. They are held at the Neatishead Farmers’ Market, on the 2nd Saturday of every month, 9am – 12noon at the New Victory Hall, Neatishead, NR12 8AD. Why not pop along for a coffee and a bacon butty too with a variety of stalls too.
