70 Years of Village Events to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Our villages celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with lots of events during the national holiday from 2nd – 5th June 2022.
On Friday 2nd June 2022 an evening event was held in Barton Turf with music from the Norfolk Wherry Band followed by the lighting of a beacon by Louis Baugh, Deputy Lieutenant. The following evening we enjoyed a BBQ and watched the Party at the Palace from Buckingham Palace at the New Victory Hall on the big screen.
It was raining on Sunday morning but this was going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate the Jubilee with a Street Party and not to be cancelled. An All Faith service took place in Neatishead Street and then the Big Lunch with great entertainment from NABS, the local amateur dramatics group. Afternoon Tea was provided by the local WI at the New Victory Hall accompanied by the local Ukulele Band and the the NIBCHG exhibition of 70 years of village events. Parts of the exhibition continue to be displayed at the weekly Farmers’ Markets and the whole exhibition will display on the afternoon of Sunday 16th October from 2-4.30pm at the New Victory Hall, Neatishead.
