It was unfortunate that due to the coronavirus pandemic we had to cancel our plans, like many other organisations, to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day last year on May 8th, 2020. Now with government restrictions being eased plans for a WW2 event are being made.
We will tell the story of living in our villages during the World War Two years through photographs, oral recordings, documents and displays about life on the ‘Home Front’ including a recreated 1940s living room. There will be information about those from the villages who served and those who fell. Also on display a locally produced map of Wartime Incidents with accompanying research and explanations.
An evening of WW2 musical entertainment is planned after this event with a 1940s dress code and audience participation optional but encouraged. Further details about tickets for this evening event will be added in mid August
